Piper is the estate's caretaker — an always-on maintenance loop whose brain is served from the 3090 node, deliberately kept off the serving Mac so she never contends with the working seats. She watches memory headroom and serving budget, runs the hygiene gates, extracts and consolidates the day's memory, and reports squad health. The kind of steady background work a frontier model would otherwise be paid to supervise — done by an owned model on hardware that's already powered.
